Major Features of SpecLink-E

Data is stored in a single database instead of multiple files.

Because your project is managed in a single file, instead of requiring you to manage dozens or more files per project, your spec file management nightmares will be over forever!

Edit by selecting text instead of deleting text.

It works like a checklist, dramatically speeding up your editing process. You simply go down the checklist, clicking on (selecting) information relevant to your project. Only selected text actually appears in the final document. Unselected text is always available for future use, even if you copy a project. You can change your mind as much as you want, and you never need to go back to search for deleted text!

  • Quick and easy importing from word processing makes integrating your current specifications into SpecLink-E a breeze.
  • You can also edit any text directly or create new paragraphs and sections quickly and easily using our built-in templates.
  • You can also export your specs to word processing or to .PDF files.

Intelligent links automatically trigger relevant options.

As you select information, over 125,000 color-coded intelligent links automatically include relevant provisions (green), exclude incompatible options (red), and highlight for consideration other relevant options (yellow). This significantly speeds up editing while greatly reducing errors and omissions—giving you unsurpassed accuracy and data integrity.

  • You can add, delete, or modify your own intelligent links in a drag-and-drop process that takes mere seconds—no programming required!
  • You can also add your own intelligent checklist by adding "non-printing" text at the beginning of a section and adding links to the specification text that automatically edit the section in response to your checklist selections.

You can easily convert a typical project specification into an Office Master project...

By selecting the options your firm most commonly uses, editing master text as needed, and adding your firm's unique data. When you use the Office Master project as the starting point for future projects, many choices are already made, but unselected options are still visible and available to you. And since your project decisions are saved in a separate project file, your customized Office Master project is never overwritten by our automatic quarterly updates.

Separate notes-to-the-editor windows provide quick and easy assistance.

While you are editing and reviewing your speciation, BSD’s master notes can be viewed simultaneously in a separate window. You can also add your own reminders and instructions in a separate project notes window for easy reference. Both notes windows aid you in the creation and editing of your specification without taking up space in your document... and you never have to delete them since they won’t print unless you specifically request them in a draft document.

One-step global formatting brings it all together.
