BSD SpecLink-E Final Beta Now Available
Building Systems Design, inc. is pleased to deliver the final beta and first production release of BSD SpecLink-E (SLE), our premier system that automates the preparation of construction specifications throughout the design process. SLE can easily produce Outline specifications that can be expanded to Short Form specs as design progresses using over 140,000 built-in intelligent links. Short Form specs can then be expanded to full specifications as the design nears completion and approaches construction, yielding high quality specs, unmatched productivity gains, and improved consistency across project documentation. SLE offers a
slew of new features:
- Collaborative specifications development on large networks including WAN’s and VPN’s;
- Internet-based, master data updating delivered and applied to the master database automatically;
- Software updates for user computers handled automatically once you choose to place the update package on your network;
- Copy SpecLink+ projects, including “office master” projects, into SpecLink-E;
- Project-wide Find, Replace and Spell-Check functions that let you choose the documents to include in the search;
- Insert images and hyperlinks in specifications;
- Add, edit and delete choices and choice fields in user versions of master paragraphs without disrupting master database updating;
- Export documents to Word, PDF, HTML and RTF;
- Import specification documents from both Word and RTF;
- Improved table management commands;
- And more.
This exciting release is available to Beta testers now. To participate in the SpecLink-E Final Beta (SFB) test you must have a valid SpecLink+ subscription and be willing to return Internet-based comment forms describing your experiences and opinions with the Beta system. SLE requires an Internet connection. Work that you do in the SFB will be carried forward into the Final Release of SpecLink-E and beyond. However, you will not be able to carry this work back to SpecLink+.
