Why Does "32-bit" Versus "64-bit" Matter?

The SpecLink-E installation files are customized to the version of Windows that is installed on the computer where SpecLink-E will be installed, so it is very useful to know which version you are using before downloading. There are 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008 (the only Windows versions supported for SpecLink-E). For the Network Installations of SpecLink, the server is what matters — for the Standalone Installation, the local computer is what matters.

To determine which download to use, first determine which Windows version you have. First, go to Control Panel and select System. On the General tab, the first entry is about Windows — if it says 64-bit, you are running the 64-bit version. If doesn't say anything, it's likely 32-bit. If Control Panel is not where this info is found, and you can't find the info yourself, you have two options:

1) Download this diagnostic utility. When you run it, it will tell you what is installed on the current computer.

2) Call or email BSD's Support group, at (800) 266-7732 or support@bsdsoftlink.com, for help.
